Introduction and Location

Old Skelmersdale is situated in the heart of the West Lancashire countryside, providing a charming setting for Elm House. This introduces a wide range of opportunities for our clients to enjoy life both indoors and out. A post office, fish and chip shop, chemist and newsagents are all less than a five minute walk from Elm House, and a regular bus service allows convenient access to the surrounding towns and villages.

Residents are able to enjoy views of the local park and bowling green, alongside the beauty of the carefully landscaped gardens belonging to the home.

Our Focus

The activities at Elm House allow our clients to do as much or as little as they wish. Upon arrival, our activities co-ordinator spends time with every resident to discover what they enjoy doing and to help us to build an accurate picture of not only their care needs, but just as importantly their preferences and choices for living a full and happy life with us. Day Trips

Right on the doorstep are the wonderful resorts of Blackpool and Southport and the charming market town of Ormskirk. Only slightly further afield is the natural beauty of North Wales, the Lake District and the Peak District. Our activities coordinator works closely with all the residents to provide a wonderful array of day trips for residents throughout the year, to suit all interests and levels of mobility.

Fine and Healthy Cuisine

Good meals are an important part of day to day life at Elm House, which is why our state of the art kitchen facilities and experienced chefs are able to provide a varied range of wholesome and delicious freshly cooked food for residents. Our chefs use our location in the Lancashire farming community to use locally sourced fresh produce daily to compliment a menu that makes mealtimes at Elm House something to truly look forward to. We are able to cater for all diets and tastes and the dining areas provide a comfortable and relaxed environment in which to enjoy meals.

Residents have 24 hour care, with our staff working closely with the registered manager and also other health care professionals to ensure the comfort and safety of everyone. Our fully trained team of dedicated care assistants make residents feel comfortable and safe at all times.

As a newly built residential care home, Elm House boasts the finest modern amenities to cater for our residents. There are communal lounges for residents to enjoy each others’ company, with provision for live entertainment, beauty treatments and even our own hairdressing salon! These rooms all overlook the gorgeous landscaped gardens with patio and seating areas for residents to relax and enjoy the serenity of the outdoors.

Spacious and Comfortable Bedrooms

​

We have designed the bedrooms with space, comfort and privacy in mind for residents. All bedrooms allow plenty of natural light and views of the gardens and patio areas. There are wheelchair and walking frame friendly spacious en-suite bathrooms and wet rooms, lovely, comfortable beds and tasteful furniture including wardrobes, chest of drawers and dressing tables. For entertainment, every room has free Wi-Fi access and there are wide screen TV’s in all communal lounges. We also encourage all residents to personalise their room with personal items.
